Audience

In all honesty before this class, I never really considered audience when writing. However I now know the importance of knowing your audience before writing. The audience is who will be reading your work. Determining the audience will give you an understanding of the vocabulary that is appropriate to use. This is important to keep in mind because if the audience is not considered then whoever reads what the author wrote might not understand anything or fully comprehend what is trying to be conveyed. Knowing who the audience will be allows you to research them and grasp an idea of how they are which allows for the possibility to be more persuasive or to be more informative.

On the memo project I had to carefully consider who might be the best targeted audience would be. Eventually I came to the conclusion that Daisy Domínguez who was the Chief Librarian at City College of New York would be the perfect audience for my memorandum. Below is a screenshot of my audience analysis sheet.
