Course Learning Outcome 1

Acknowledge your and others’ range of linguistic differences as resources, and draw on those resources to develop rhetorical sensibility.

Across all of our major assignments, there is always a targeted audience. I have learned to carefully consider my choice of vocabulary depending on who my audience was. As a writer and even an engineer, it is important to make sure you are using the appropriate language in your writing so that your message can be understood by the people you intend to inform.

An example of me taking other peoples linguistic skills into consideration was when I wrote my audience analysis sheet for the memo. I knew I had to tone down my use of language in order to get my point across much easier and more effectively.
