Before this class, I knew the meaning of stance and I thought it was obvious about how it is applied to writing. I thought very close mindedly that there were three stances towards a subject which included positive, negative, and neutral. However stance is more than that and can affect the way something is written. Stance is the writers attitude about the subject. It is the feelings that can be picked up on when reading that show the level of determination and tenacity of the author. If the author can show how certain he is of his writing then the audience may take it more seriously and trust the author more.
